Love Letters Coin Purse by Disaster Designs

In an attempt to declutter my life and home, I have decided to try and get a bit more organised. I have already taken a load of clothes and household items to the charity shop and the next step was to carry less in my handbag. Do I really need six lipsticks, two glosses and two pairs of sunglasses, not to mention eight of my daughters' hair clips and Peppa Pig stickers...?
This coin purse by Disaster Designs is great for keeping together not only loose coins, but also those said lipsticks (maybe not all six) from rolling around in my handbag so that when I need a lippy top up or change for the car park, it's in one place. I might even keep keys in it as they always disappear when I have heavy shopping bags.

The purse has a magnetic clasp and it is made from very soft material. The appearance of old parchment is a lovely touch and really looks like an old love letter. The floral cloth lining is super cute. The whole Love Letters range is amazing and would make wonderful gifts.
This normally retails at around £11, but I found this on eBay at a good price as it was an unwanted present. Temptation Gifts currently have 20% off the whole Disaster Designs so this purse is now £8.40.

What would you keep in here?

Eve Lom Rescue Mask

I use to regularly use face masks every week, but recently that routine has slipped somewhat, what with illness, family and such, so my skin has started to suffer a little bit. I try to use my Soap and Glory No Clogs Allowed when I remember (which I blogged about here), but I felt my skin needed a deeper treatment.
Raiding my sample size drawer to try something new, I pulled out the Eve Lom Rescue Mask. That said it all...my skin needing rescuing. With a few oily patches down the side of my nose and horrible time of the month chin blemishes, I slapped this on after cleasning in the hope of fixing my worn out skin.
The product is an off white colour and is a thick consistancy. I left this on for a good 15 minutes for a chance for it to really work. I then washed it off with warm water in circular motions.
After drying, my face felt quite tight but the redness on the chin and the oil patches had gone completely. My skin had a better colour and freshness about it. Two days later my skin is still good, apart from a small spot at the side of my nose where the was oil building up. This has happened due to deep cleansing to decongest my pores, which was desperately needed.
The full size of 50ml costs £35 which is very expensive BUT if I'm having more bad skin days, I would consider buying this. I think I have about 3 more uses left in my sample/travel size, so I'll see how I get on with a regular routine like I used to.

Topshop Sunbeam Highlighter

This beauty has been in my stash for quite some time and is a re-discovery for me recently. The Topshop Highlighter in Sunbeam is extremely pigmented so a little goes a long way. I haven't even made a dent in mine so I know this will last me a V E R Y long time. It's a shimmery, baked golden shade powder, and can be applied to the face and body. I tend to apply it to my cheek bones and on to my shoulders, which I did for a friends wedding last summer, as I was wearing a beautiful yellow dress. My skin tone is on the pale side but I've had no problems with this suiting me. The staying power is excellent and I'm so glad I've found it again.

The packaging is also cute, but one disappointment for me is that there isn't a mirror, which there is plenty of room for in the lid, and is bulky enough to take it. This would be handy to have but not necessary for some people.
It's available online and in-store and costs £10.

Overall, I love it. Now, I'm off to see what else I can re-discover!

Bourjois Volume 1 Second Mascara

I had read so many good reviews about the Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde Mascara, that I had to get my hands on it, and boy am I glad I did...I love it! The brush is quite unusual with spherical bristles that claim to wrap your lashes 360ยบ for volume, with the straight bristles for clump free precision.

Looking at this photo, I have have applied it quite messily, (and I need to pluck those pesky small brow hairs!) so apologies for that, but you can see how it adds length. This is two coats and dries quickly if want to curl your lashes again.
This is also available in waterproof but the coral colour on the tube is replaced with blue. The packaging shape does remind me of Maybelline's The Rocket Mascara with the barrel chunky tube.
Overall, it works well for me and at £9.99 it's very affordable. I recently blogged about a lovely Bourjois blusher here. I'm really taking more notice now of this brand, which I had over-looked before and building a nice collection.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

I didn't want to, but I did...I gave in and bought the coveted Micellar Cleansing Water by Garnier. I think every beauty blogger and their Aunt has this, so when my L'oreal one ran out, I thought it was time to see what all the fuss was about.

What Garnier say about it...

'A super efficient and gentle way to cleanse, remove makeup, soothe the feel of skin and hydrate in just one step – it’s not magic, it’s Garnier Micellar!
Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water contains micelles which act like magnets, gently lifting away makeup and impurities from the skin, without the need to rub or rinse. The result?
Beautifully cleansed and refreshed feeling skin in an instant. The formula is suitable for the face, eye area and lips, has no perfume and comes in a generous 400ml size'.
The packaging is cute and unlike the L'oreal version, this doesn't gush out all over the cotton pad. This has been hyped as a dupe for the Bioderma one (which I haven't tried) but I feel I don't need to try as this does everything it says. Scent free and no need to rinse your face afterwards, what's not to love?

Urban Decay Naked Skin Beauty Balm

There isn't a make up brand that hasn't got its own version of the beauty balm, and Urban Decay have one in their Naked Skin range. I bought this around Christmas time last year and I keep going back to it wanting to love it, but I don't. Firstly, the colour is supposed to adapt to your skin tone - it doesn't. It makes me look orange and doesn't blend well on me at all. Second, it's terribly greasy. I have oily/combination skin and this is really hydrating, which the sales assistant didn't tell me, even though she asked what skin type I had. After about an hour it has slid of my face exposing pores which I never noticed before and makes me feel really self-conscious. It can be worn under foundation but this is something I have avoided. Three, the smell. O dear - it's like old biscuits and a fake tan smell. Not good.

Like I said, I really want to love it as I rate Urban Decay really highly, but this product is a let down. The only good thing is the packaging.
£23 for 35ml.

Have you tried it and are surprised with my review? Would love to here from you.

Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer

The Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer (12ml, £12.50) is a recent purchase, and something that I have been thinking about trying for a while. The reason I haven't tried it before is because of the price, as the full size version is £25. I thought this size was ideal to test out and I have been using it everyday for over a week.

The texture of the primer reminds me of the Laura Mercier one which I have used and loved. I do find that I need quite a lot of the product to apply to my face, so the 12ml size won't last me very long.
It's actually a great primer and I have noticed that my blusher especially, lasts ALL day, whichever brand I use. My foundation didn't last any longer than normal, but applied better. With five primers to suit your area of need there is something for everyone, especially now there are smaller sizes to sample.

J by Jasper Conran Mock Twist Lock Toe Post Sandals

A new season for me means a new summer wardrobe, and what better way to start than with shoes. On the day that I bought these I did sneakily buy another pair of flats but I'll post about them another time. These are by Jasper Conran in the 'J' range at Debenhams are called Mock Twist Lock Toe Post Sandals (bit of a mouthful). They are only available in black which is such a shame as I think that these would be nice in tan aswell.

I like the small detail of a faux twist lock and the buckle has an elasticated piece for wider heels. Available in sizes 3 to 7 and priced at £39, but currently there is 20% off in store and online.

Happy shopping!

No7 Stay Perfect Superlight Foundation

I've been wearing this foundation since the weather here in the UK turned warmer (hurray!). I didn't want to wear something too heavy that could potentially melt away later on in the day so this little gem by Boots No7 is ideal and I absolutely love it. It is quite a light coverage, hence being called 'superlight'. If you do have a few blemishes that you are conscious about, then this isn't for you. My skin has been behaving recently since changing my skincare routine and this has suited me perfectly.

The foundation itself is quite runny but blends really well. I have the shade Calico which I was matched with using the No7 match made service which is something I would recommend having done, prior to buying any foundation in the extensive range.
The packaging is sleek and not bulky and the lid secures tightly with a click, so good for transporting in your handbag, and also with a SPF 15 you know that you are protecting your skin. RRP £14.50 for 30ml.

Do you switch your foundation as the seasons change?
